ABOUT
The Pierrepont Analysis team are composite experts, and between them have well over 30 years experience of building and working with composite structures. The combination of in-depth knowledge of composite construction and expertise in NDT methods, means not only can Pierrepont Analysis accurately identify defects in composite materials, but can also advise clients why and where they are most likely to occur.
To date, Pierrepont Analysis has carried out approximately 1000 NDT inspections on a wide variety of structures in the marine, renewable, aviation and automotive industries. Ben and his team are all qualified in Ultrasonic Inspection at Level 2 to SNT-TC-1A, ASNT-CP-189, BS EN 4179 and are covered with full professional indemnity insurance.
Pierrepont Analysis was created in 2006 by Ben Pierrepont after working for an Italian marine NDT company for 3 years. Prior to this, Ben was first a boatbuilder (from 1995) then a yacht surveyor. As a boat builder, he specialised in pre-preg construction and lightweight composite craft. He has worked as a builder, leading hand and build manager, and builds include two America's Cup campaigns (GBR Challenge, Mascolzini Latino), various Open 60s, and other high performance craft. As a yacht surveyor, Ben trained and worked with one of the busiest south coast (UK) marine surveyors for three years. This included pre-purchase, insurance and damage surveys on a variety of craft and materials. Ben also has a BSc in Yacht Manufacturing and Surveying. It is undoubtedly his experience as a composite boat builder and yacht surveyor, as well as his critical eye for detail, that has made him a preferred NDT consultant for many composite manufacturers, boat builders and sailing teams.
Matthew Meltzer joined Pierrepont Analysis in 2014, with 20 years' experience of composite boat building including four America's Cup campaigns and the Project Management of the Vestas Sail Rocket build, the fastest sailing vessel in the world. Prior to this, Matthew completed a four year boat-building apprenticeship and studied Yacht Construction and Materials at university. Matthew utilises his in-depth knowledge of composite construction in all his NDT work.
